Sing, un gars malchanceux qui veut devenir un vrai gangster, doit avant tout apprendre à manier un couteau et faire ses preuves pour pouvoir devenir membre du gang de Axe. Quant à cette bande notoire, elle veut régner en maître absolu sur le territoire le plus convoité : une rue sacrée protégée par un mélange d'individus curieux. La plupart d'entre eux sont des maîtres du kung fu déguisés en personnes ordinaires. Après plusieurs rencontres avec des voyous et un adversaire redoutable connu sous le nom de "la Bête", Sing parvient à vaincre ses handicaps et réalise qu'il est le plus grand maître du kung fu de tous, destiné à protéger la rue sacrée.
