Nadat ze studeerde en haar carrière begon in Parijs keert Selma, een 35-jarige psychoanaliste, terug naar huis om een praktijk te beginnen in Tunis. Vlak na de Revolutie blijkt er een grote vraag te zijn naar mentale gezondheidstherapie in dit land dat gespleten zit tussen traditie en moderniteit. Een hele rist kleurrijke klanten passeert de revue. Alleen blijkt het voor Selma niet eenvoudig om aan de juiste licentie te geraken waarmee ze haar praktijk kan verderzetten.


