De tienjarige Agathe-Christine is een buitenbeentje én gek op mysteries. Ze wil graag privédetective worden. Een kantoor heeft ze al: in hun nieuwe huis in de stad, tovert ze de kelder om tot een klein detectivebureau. Daar bijt ze zich vast in haar eerste zaak: in de buurtwinkel verdwijnen er voortdurend koekjes uit de rekken. Haar slungelachtige buurjongen Vincent zorgt voor nog meer mysterie. Telkens Agathe-Christine (codenaam: AC) hem ziet, krijgt ze een raar gevoel in haar buik. Dat raadsel is zo mogelijk nog moeilijker op te lossen...
