Op 25 februari 1964 herenigen de vrienden Cassius Clay, Jim Brown, Sam Cooke en Malcolm X zich. Ze hebben reden tot vieren nu Clay wereldkampioen zwaargewicht is geworden na zijn zege tegen Sonny Liston. Een zorgeloze avond wordt het echter niet voor de vier befaamde heren. Maar al te goed zijn ze zich bewust van de inbreuk op de burgerrechten die zij en mede Afro-Amerikanen moeten dulden. Ze delen hun gedachten en verantwoordelijkheden over deze kwestie met elkaar.
