Waarom krijgen zij geen cadeautjes? Zij zijn toch ook altijd braaf?
Onder leiding van de energieke fret Fretje maken de huisdieren hun verlanglijstjes op.
Fretje besluit om de lijstjes samen met zijn vrienden Kari, de kanarie, en Takkie, de wandelende tak zelf naar Sinterklaas te brengen.
Wanneer ze aankomen op de boot van Sinterklaas, lijkt hun plan te mislukken door tussenkomst van Rat.
