Brett (Mel Gibson) en Anthony (Vince Vaughn) zijn een doorgewinterd politie-duo. Bij arrestaties gaan de twee niet bepaald zachtzinnig te werk. Dit heeft grote gevolgen wanneer het op een dag wordt gefilmd en op internet wordt geplaatst. Beiden worden per direct geschorst voor enkele maanden en komen zonder inkomsten thuis te zitten. Wegens geldgebrek besluiten ze vervolgens samen het criminele pad op te gaan. Dit gaat hen in eerste instantie makkelijk af en ze staan hun mannetje maar gaandeweg ontstaan er nieuwe problemen en wordt de sfeer steeds grimmiger...


