Piloot Ray Torrance (Gerard Butler) heeft vaker in stormen gevlogen, maar wanneer hij in een zware storm terecht komt en zijn vliegtuig beschadigd raakt, is hij genoodzaakt om een spectaculaire noodlanding te maken op een eiland in de Filippijnen. Daar blijken Ray en zijn passagiers terecht te zijn gekomen in een oorlogsgebied dat wordt gedomineerd door meedogenloze piraten die het op het vliegtuig en zijn passagiers gemunt hebben. Terwijl de hele wereld op zoek is naar het verdwenen vliegtuig probeert Ray zijn passagiers in leven te houden tot er hulp arriveert.
