Cherchant par tous les moyens de quitter la vie et la ville où il a grandit, Tripp (Lucas Till), étudiant en fin d'études, construit lui-même une Monster Car via des pièces détachées récupérées sur de vieilles voitures. Lorsqu'un accident se produit dans une station de forage environnante, dévoilant une créature étrange avec un goût prononcé pour la vitesse, Tripp semble avoir trouvé la clé pour enfin quitter la ville...et un nouvel ami.
