Hercules, zoon van de Griekse god Zeus, wordt door de slechte Hades in een halfgod veranderd. Hercules wordt op aarde opgevoed en houdt zijn goddelijke kracht. Als hij achter zijn afkomst komt, krijgt hij van Zeus te horen dat hij eerst een echte held moet worden om naar de berg Olympus te kunnen terugkeren.
