Op de avond dat Jezus Christus geboren wordt, wordt in het stalletje ernaast ook Brian geboren. Op volwassen leeftijd sluit Brian zich aan bij het Volksfront van Judea: een organisatie die zich tegen de Romeinen verzet. Door een speling van het lot wordt Brian echter aangezien voor de messias, en wordt alles wat hij zegt en doet heilig verklaard. Dit tot grote ergernis van Brian, die helemaal geen behoefte heeft om een volk te leiden. Ook de Romeinen zijn niet zo blij met de komst van deze messias.
