Adam is een zachtaardige hondenkenneleigenaar. Hij is hypersensitief en balanceert op de rand van een depressie, maar hij verbergt zijn existentiële angsten voor zijn vader, die allergisch is voor kwetsbaarheid. Adam laat helemaal over zich heen lopen door zijn jongere assistente, die misbruik maakt van zijn goedaardigheid. Om zijn eco-angst onder controle te krijgen, bestelt hij een zonlichtlamp. Via de technische hulplijn ontmoet hij Tina (Piper Perabo), een hypercharmante vrouw met een stem die al zijn zorgen wegneemt. Deze onverwachte ontmoeting verandert alles: de aarde trilt, en harten ontploffen... Het is echte liefde.
