In de spannende thriller Stonehearst Asylum volgen we Edward Newgate (Jim Sturgess) die klinische ervaring wil opdoen bij een psychiatrische instelling. Hij komt terecht bij het Stonehearst Insane Asylum, waar Dr. Lamb (Ben Kingsley) de recent afgestudeerde arts onder zijn hoede neemt en hem de fijne kneepjes van het vak leert. Al snel blijkt dat niet alles is wat het lijkt. Als Newgate dan ook nog valt voor de knappe patiënte Eliza Graves (Kate Beckinsale), raakt hij verwikkeld in een web van intriges. Lukt het hem om de waarheid naar boven te halen?


